While Reading tasks
Task 1 - Pause and Predict
This task has to be done after reading each part After reading each part you have to predict how the story continues. You have to consider such questions as: - What do you think is going to happen? - How is Larry's relationship to his father? to his mother? You have to write between five and ten sentences. Once you have written down your predictions, you are to login to Skoletube (link below) and use the program GoAnimate to make a short cartoon of your predictions. In your assigned groups you are to read through part 1, and highlight all the words/sentences that you believe describe culture. What is different from today, or the way you live? It could be: - Things you would not have/would not do because your parent is not away at war - Things we do not have/do not do because we live in a different country - Things we do not have/do not do because the story takes place about 100 years ago. Place your answer in the box below as well as in a google doc. Make sure you do NOT press "SUBMIT" before you are completely done! After you submit your reply it will disappear. |
Task 2 - Prayer After reading part 1 you have learned that Larry is praying for his father to come home. Now you have to imagine your father is at war, and you want him to come home. Your task is to write a prayer to God, and hope that the war will end soon, and that your father will return home safe and unharmed. You have to write half a page. Write it in a Google doc. Task 4 - Reading for details
This is an individual task In Part 3 find descriptive words and highlight them You have to find 4 adjectives, 4 nouns, 4 verbs. Write new sentences using the words you have found. Place your answer in the box below as well as in a goggle doc. Make sure you do NOT press "SUBMIT" before you are completely done! After you submit your reply, it will disappear. We will use a Google doc to go through the words in class.

Task 5 - Treasure hunt
This is an individual task! Read through Part 3. Pay extra attention to adjectives, adverbs and nouns! Read Part 3A. Some of the words are covered! When you find a word which has been covered (illustrated with a empty line), try to remember/predict what the covered word was, and write it down on the line. Repeat this step until you have filled in all the lines in the text. When you are done, compare part 3 and part 3a. Did you get the words correct? Select 10 of the found word and find 3 synonyms for each word. Place them next to the original word and your prediction. Place the correct word, your predicted word and your synonyms in the box below as well as in your google doc. Make sure you do NOT press "SUBMIT" before you are completely done! After you submit your reply, it will disappear. |
